This Privacy Policy describes how Howl & Hearth Studio LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and handles your information when you use the TEDxMinneapolis mobile application (“the App”).
Information We Collect
Mailing List Signup If you choose to join our mailing list through the App, we collect your:
- First and last name
- Email address
This information is submitted to Mailchimp, our email marketing provider, and used solely to send you TEDxMinneapolis news, event announcements, and community updates.
Push Notifications If you enable push notifications, Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) assigns your device an anonymous notification token. This token is used only to deliver push notifications from TEDxMinneapolis to your device. We do not use this token to identify you personally.
App Usage We do not collect analytics, browsing history, or behavioral data within the App.
Third-Party Services
The App connects to the following third-party services to display content:
- WordPress / tedxminneapolis.com — event, speaker, and community content
- YouTube (Google) — talk videos streamed within the App
- Flickr (SmugMug) — event photography
- Mailchimp (Intuit) — mailing list management
- Firebase (Google) — push notification delivery
Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Send you TEDxMinneapolis news and event updates (if you subscribed)
- Deliver push notifications you have opted into
- Display community content from our WordPress site
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
Data Deletion
You have the right to request deletion of your personal data at any time.
To request deletion of your mailing list data:
- Open any TEDxMinneapolis email you have received
- Click the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email
- Follow the prompts to unsubscribe and request data deletion from Mailchimp
Alternatively, email us at hello@howlandhearth.com with the subject line “Data Deletion Request” and we will process your request within 30 days.
What gets deleted: Your name and email address will be permanently removed from our Mailchimp audience.
What is retained: Anonymous push notification tokens are automatically recycled by Firebase when a device is inactive and are not linked to any personal information.
Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page.
