Executive Director
Does the idea of running a TEDx organization light you up? Are you eager to shape the events and talks that feature local Minnesota speakers and create a ripple around the world? Are you interested in finding an organization you can spend several years with? We have an incredible opportunity for you! TEDxMinneapolis is seeking an Executive Director, who oversees the organization, collaborates with all team leads to produce inspiring annual events, and holds the TEDx License through TED, ensuring all operations comply with the TEDx license rules. Leadership skills, including facilitation, team management, organization, and vision, are required. Experience with event management, public speaking, and non-profit management is highly recommended. This role requires excellent communication and collaborative people skills. Depending on the skill set of the candidate, this role may be shaped differently so it is the best fit for you and the team – this is an opportunity to shape the role and this organization!
Time commitment averages 5 hours per week (with bursts of activity and a higher time commitment before/after each event), including bi-weekly Team meetings, monthly meetings with the Operations Manager, and other coordination as required. 5 year commitment preferred. The first year, you will collaborate with and learn from the current Director and other team members. The following year you will take the lead, with the previous Director serving as an advisor. Must be located in the Twin Cities, MN and available on site and in-person for TEDxMinneapolis film shoots and events.
Attendee Experience Lead
Lead the Attendee Experience team to help bring together all the details that enhance the event experience from our guests’ point of view. You will also collaborate with other teams (including Creative and Sponsorships) in all things related to event management: registration, food and beverage and art experiences. During the event, you will oversee our team to ensure volunteers are managing attendees, event experiences are running smoothly, food and beverages are coordinated properly and everyone gets all their burning questions answered. This role requires communication, organization and people skills. Previous event coordination experience required. Time spent includes bi-weekly meetings each month, with weekly meetings closer to each event (approx. 1h 30m meetings), with an additional 1-5 hours each week on tasks and coordination related to position. Meetings are virtual/in-person and this role is required to be in-person during the day of the TEDxMinneapolis Event, and also to pack up before and after.
Attendee Experience
Join our Attendee Experience team, where we bring together all the details to enhance the experience from our guests’ point of view. You will work cross functionally to ensure all things related to our ticketing website and guest emails are being taken care of, in addition to helping curate art, tech, and innovation experience for the event. You must also be in attendance the day of the event to ensure attendees are checked-in and know where to go and get all their burning questions answered. Fundraiser
TEDxMinneapolis is a 501c3 nonprofit, and we depend on sponsors to financially support our programming and expand access to TEDxMinneapolis events to people at all levels of the economic spectrum. Join the sponsorship team! This role will involve reaching out to individuals and companies that have expressed interest in sponsoring, targeting new sponsors and reaching out to those who might see value in our mission. Must feel comfortable making financial asks.
