A: Ticket prices vary by year and venue but are designed to cover event costs (we’re a nonprofit, volunteer-run organization).

Q: Can I watch TEDxMinneapolis talks online?

A: Yes! All talks are recorded and published after the event through TED. They can be viewed through our website (https://www.tedxminneapolis.com/past-events/) or the official @TEDx Youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/TEDxTalks)

Q: How can I submit an idea or become a speaker?

A: Speaker nominations open once per year during a defined application period. When submissions are open, you can apply or nominate someone through our Submit an Idea page.

Q: Can I submit an idea right now?
A: We only accept submissions during the official application window. Submissions sent via email or outside that timeframe will not be reviewed.

Q: I submitted an idea—can I get an update?

A: Due to the high volume of submissions, we are unable to provide individual status updates. Selected speakers will be contacted directly by our team, and remaining applicants will be notified via email.

Q: I haven’t heard back—does that mean I wasn’t selected?

A: If you are selected to move forward, a member of our team will contact you directly. If you’re not selected to move forward, you’ll receive an email notification. We your patience with this process – our team is run by volunteers so it can take weeks to months for the process to be completed. If you’re not selected in your first application, we encourage you to reapply; several of the speakers we’ve selected have applied more than once as they’ve had time to refine their idea and pitch.

Q: How can I become a TEDxMinneapolis speaker?

A: We open the speaker application process annually. Please refer to the Submit an Idea page on our site.

Q: What kind of speakers are you looking for?

A: We’re looking for ‘ideas worth spreading’—original, thought-provoking ideas backed by experience, research, or a unique perspective. Applicants must live, work, or have ties to Minnesota to qualify to speak at TEDxMinneapolis – you can view other TEDx events to consider applying to here: https://www.ted.com/tedx/events.

Q: Do I need to be a professional speaker?

A: Not at all. Many of our speakers are first-timers. We value strong ideas over speaking experience.

A: TEDx events are not-for-profit. Speakers are not compensated but receive coaching, visibility, and the opportunity to share their ideas globally.
